Aesthetic Distance is Eliza Romero - a Filipino American writer, podcast host and former model. She is a founder of Plan A Magazine and cohost on the popular weekly podcast, Escape from Plan A.

Plan A Magazine is a group of Asian Diaspora navigating shifting political and social climates, attempting to make sense of the conflicting roles we are thrust into and the conflicting narratives that are told about us. The polarized nature of our stereotypes pull us in opposing directions and being seen as a monolith places us in no man’s land. Through our articles, our podcasts, and our community efforts, we hope to foster a movement of Asian Diaspora thinking about where we stand politically and socially, beyond the curated soundbites and thought pieces of mainstream media that serves interests other than ours.

Eliza was a cohost for the podcast, Unverified Accounts, a podcast about movies, pop culture and politics. Her old podcast, The Aesthetic Distance Podcast, explored pop culture and politics.

Eliza has appeared in Buzzfeed News, Foreign Policy Magazine, On the Record on NPR, AM2DM, The New York Post, Forbes, Fox 45 News, the Self-Evident Podcast, and The Baltimore Sun. She has hosted major events like the annual Charm City Night Market Festival. She has moderated panels about Asian American literature at the Baltimore Book Festival and the CityLit Festival. She has also partnered with Enoch Pratt Library and Greedy Reads Baltimore to host Writer’s Live events and discussions with her favorite Filipino American authors.

She was a coordinator for the Baltimore chapter of Malaya Movement, a U.S.-based volunteer organization that promotes human rights in the Philippines.

Eliza has three children and lives in Maryland.
