According to my tax records, it's the one-year anniversary of Aesthetic Distance!!
2015 was a wild year filled with lots of emotions, hard work and passion. Normally, I find it somewhat difficult to look back on a year and feel fully content with my endeavors, but this was one in which I poured 100 percent of my heart and mind into my creative work . I never imagined I'd be fulfilled, and even happy, to work 80-hour weeks!
So many things have changed since I started my business a year ago. I've decided to stop doing event and bridal makeup to focus on my photography and blogging. I'll still do makeup but only for my photo clients. I started blogging more and more, and now my blog posts traverse the internet on a daily basis.
Most of 2015 was focused on narrowing down what I was most passionate about. I learned that doing bridal makeup wasn't something I enjoyed nearly as much as I loved photography and blogging. What started out as my beauty blog slowly and organically morphed into a style blog, complete with fashion editorials: Stay tuned for those because I've been art directing, styling, photographing and editing a ton of work that will be released this year. I love directing all aspects of a shoot, from the model casting, clothing, hair, makeup and editing.
So I am inspired. This past year was learning what it means to work with others, the beauty of collaboration, networking, and being a part of something greater than myself. My biggest fear is to stop following my personal truth.
With this, I thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for sticking by my side and watching me grow. I will continue working towards normalizing the alternative and making statements about where we, as women, stand in society. I'll never stop celebrating art and what it means to the world.
