Summer is finally in full swing here (yay to the happiest, least productive season!) and I'm hoping to spend lots of time at the pool, devouring book after book and Snapchatting everything.
I've been thinking a lot about selfies and "selfie culture" so let's talk about that. What is it about selfies that makes people so mad? What a strange thing to get mad at. It makes me wonder if people once got mad about paintings of royals that were commissioned themselves and were made to sit hours for. Did they say, "ugh, this new generation of kings is the 'me' generation. They're so vain! In my day we painted saints." Is it a backlash against young people and young women? Do people hate seeing women feeling good about themselves?
Side note: I wish I had invented the selfie stick. Why didn't I think of that? All those solo trips could have been so well documented.
