Sup...your girl is featured in the 2017 list of Baltimore Fashion Bloggers You Need to Follow, curated by the one and only Culture Trip and I am HONORED as fuck. Other features this month include a profile about me in The Fox Magazine's The Fashion Issue, which is on newsstands now so please support and pick up a copy! I was also interviewed in two different podcasts (one for my online publication for Asian Americans, Plan A Magazine, where I talk about online harassment, and another for True Conversations with Meghan Enriquez, who is also the founder of the Asian Business Collective for Women). And speaking of Plan A Magazine, we had a phenomenal first month! We got 100k views of our articles and four of them went viral. Last but certainly not least, my photoshoot with model David Jang was featured in the annual POC issue by British fashion magazine, Feroce. It's on newsstands until the end of October but you can also order it here. It's massive at 250+ pages and definitely a collector's item. Life doesn't get much better than this....
In other news, I've partnered up with Lou Catelli and the Hampden Merchant's Association so I will be shooting on location in a lot of neighborhood restaurants and boutiques. In case you didn't know, Hampden is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Baltimore City. Yeah, people can call it super hipstered out and they're probably right but that doesn't mean it isn't a great place for people watching, food, shopping, and entertainment. Last year the real estate website Redfin named Hampden one of the top ten "hottest neighborhoods in America" because of its walkability and charm. (Makes sense since Baltimore's nickname is Charm City. IJS.)
For this shoot, photographer Ramon Jamar and I took over The Bluebird Cocktail Room.
I usually do a write up of the events I’ve organized or hosted and my most-read articles at the end of the year. This was an unusual year (obviously, there is no need to go into it here) so I didn’t bother. Instead I want to highlight a project of mine that I am particularly proud of — it’s my new podcast show, Unverified Accounts, that I cohost with my frequent collaborators, Chris Jesu Lee and Filip Guo. If you're a big movie/TV/book buff, have leftist sympathies, but can't stand 'wokeness' dumbing down our culture, then we're the podcast for you. So far in our 25 episodes, we’ve covered a range of contentious topics.
