Yesterday I had a great photoshoot with Mona Patel, a Miss Maryland/Miss America hopeful whose mission is to show younger women that you can be anything in life as long as you believe in yourself. In her own words, “Currently, I’m in the Honors Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County pursuing a degree of Science in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. Males have dominated the field of engineering but that hasn’t stopped me from reaching my goals. The combination of modeling and engineering is uncommon, but I’m willing to take the challenge. People tend to judge a book by its cover rather than reading the pages first. I want to be a role model for young females who want to pursue their own goals in life and not be judged.”
