If you're obsessed with hats like me, you need to add a beret to your accessories closet. For a while, berets were a bit of a joke among fashion crowds but usually it had more to do with the way they were worn than with the beret itself. A beret is a bit whimsical, which is one reason I love wearing one but the key is to avoid looking corny or pretentious or worse, smarmy. When it comes to hair and makeup with berets, less is more. Keep your hair slightly dirty and undone and your makeup minimal (winged liner with a touch of earthy eyeshadow and some lipgloss is all you need).
